View Full Version : Hosts that allow outside linking??

Hi folks!

I hope I'm not asking for something that's already been covered in another thread.
I'm looking for hosts that allow linking to files from another website. For example I have the html document on tripod while the picture that the reference in the html
links to is located on geocities.
This works for some hosts (geocities allows it) while it doesn't with other (fortunecity for example).
The individual filesize is not an issue since I'm mainly interested in image files and I'm aware of the fact that no big commercial service likes it when you put your pics on their server without any html but that's the only way I can host my site.
If anyone has a list of hosts that will tolerate outside linking please let me know. Thx!

Maybe http://www.theglobe.com/ will allow it. I've read some reviews about them, and someone has used them for storing files and hasn't had them deleted in the year he's had his account.

Thanks for the tip... I have been at theglobe before and they weren't very patient with me. Kicked me out in under three days. :-(
I'll try them anyway and if anyone else knows such a provider that tolerates outside linking, let me know!

Go.com did, but they're shutting down.

Hmmm... too bad!
Seems I'm out of luck. Well, I'll just keep looking maybe I'll find a service offering more space than Geocities.
See ya

Just curious... Why don't you just move your whole site to another host? It would make things much easier. :)

I tested several free webspace hosts:

The outside link option is in the column "image links".
