what the heck is this?
is this some stuff that shows the user avatar with some stuff?
I hate it if it's what you want because it would make the forum too cluttered.

It's pretty good but it doesnt fit here. No use of it.

Is there some example of this? I don't think I like the sounds of it, but if I could see what you mean, I could give a yay or nay on this.

I think it includes stuff such as:
- the number of new threads and posts;
- number of threads and posts;
- view new posts, etc;
- a picture of your avatar;
- the time;
- time you lasted visited;
- and some other stuff.
I don't think its really neccessary as most of these are spread about over the page anyway.

Well, I don't know, I guess it has some practical applications. But it's not really neccessary, I mean most of that stuff you can figure out without a welcome panel.

Checkout www.vbulletin.org/forum (first page-full) for an example of the mod. The original mod also has your avatar on top along with the forum details and stats.

Ack! That to me is just a lot of uneccessary space being wasted at the top of the page.

I like the info "X new threads and X new posts since your last visit!".

Well, that would be nice without all the other crap. Maybe if you could figure out a way to implement that without the rest of the stuff in the forum index somewhere. But at the same time, at a forum like this, you're not going to be checking out every new thread cause there are so many.
