Well, I used to have users on my comp, but I don't any more, but I still have to click cancel to get the screen to go away. How do I get it to load up without having to click cancel?

In your Network Properties, there may be something called "Client for Microsoft Networks".. select it, and remove it..
I think that's how you do it.. it's been a while since I last touched win98...

When that happened to me, i just pressed OK, without putting in any password, and it never shows that box again.

my 'ok' button was blurred out.
Well, I am sure you were right stu, but I messed it up and now it tries to install something from the win 98 cd. Damn.

What if you go to C:\windows\profiles or whatever it is and remove the folders? Oh but wait, that'll probably delete any stuff you installed on any profile folders... Unless you... Ugh, never mind, am I semi-right maybe? :confused2

Damn. no, you didn't screw up.. usually whenever you make changes to your network settings, Win98 wants to grabs some files off the Win98 CD, even if you are trying to remove something. i should have mentioned that you may need your win98 cd handy with you..

I Thought you just go to the users section and select the user you want to sign in automatically. There are almost always at least two users for a computer guest, administrator and whatever user you have created.
