Hello,

I'm a new member here. I'm looking for a free webhost that either has no banners or only text links and allows FTP but I don't need a lot of space or fancy features. It's for a secondary site; my main site is on Tripod.

Thanks to the information provided in the sticky threads and that I've found from other sources, I'm looking at one of the following:

http://www.marhost.com
http://www.cfm-resources.com
http://www.demented.org
http://members.freewebs.com

What I would like is some feedback from people who have actually used these services. Do they actually offer what I am looking for? How good are they? Are there any hidden problems that you can only discover by signing up with them? Stuff like that.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Peace.

marhost is ok... except my site on there has been down all day. if it comes back up ill check to see if it runs php, which is a must for me, the only reason i dont use demented.org

I have used CFM-resources for a year now and I have several experiences with them. They aren't especially reliable, and that fast. They're offering nice things, as it seems to, but most of these things don't work. The FTP is down for now (check their newspage). The support is inferior, in my opinion. They had a support forum some months ago. Many of the users posted there, me there among, but we never got any help. It's very very hard to setup some working ASP-scripts, their database connection seems not to be very good. This is a host for noone, I think. It's down. For some months ago the whole hard disc crashed. They also replace your homepages with their own "Under construction"-messages with links to their sites.

I consider it as a pretty bad webhost. There are better alternatives.

Thanks for your feedback!! This is exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. I'm sorry that you had bad experiences with these hosts. You've done a good thing for other people to help them from having to go through the same thing.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply and share your experiences.

Peace.

i dont like marshost cause you have to sign up with one of their partners and forward the message to them. that takes alot of time :confused2
