Goto http://www.modemwizard.com/netmonitor.html and get the free NetMonitor. Thats what I use and it is very accurate.

Cool little util. I'm sure you've all heard of it, but I just also downloaded Download Accelerator. It's great for...accelerating downloads.

Yeah I've got a 1.5 Meg connection, but every little bit counts.

Download accelerator actually helps high speed internet users more than us lowly modem users. The main reason why high speed internet users are getting downloads slower than their pipe speeds is because the server that's uploading the file cannot handle the broadness of your broadband pipe. This is fixed with Download Accelerator's multiple connections to (a server/some servers)

I've got DAP too, the resume option is very useful, 'cause I frequently get the blue buddy during downloads, and it really pisses me off when I'm like 90%+ done with a file and Windows just had to crash..... >_<

DAP definitely speeds up my downloads, yup. Good thing. Too bad about the banners....

i use flashget and i actually like it better than DAP cuz when i tried DAP i only got like 150k/sec and when i used flashget i get like 250kb/sec :)

I wish I had a 1.5MB line! I'm on a concert downloading spree and 1GB/48hours SUCKS! Especially when I'm downloading 3GBs of Rancid/Operation Ivy concerts & radio shows :(.

I download tons of files off of my wonderful 56k modem! The most I've downloaded so far was 220megs off of my friend's computer, it took 18hrs. And my ISP disconnects me every 2 hours also! I use GetIt file manager, it doesn't accelerate downloads, but then again, DAP doesn't do anything for a 56k modem. GetIt is good because it is freeware and doesn't have ads.

I knew you would say something like that. I guess the only thing I could have said that wouldn't lead to a smartass remark would be I was downloading Weezer mp3s right? Well I have a few weezer mp3s but 3GBs or Rancid is much better than 3GBs of weezer.

The most I've downloaded in one strait downloading streak is about 850MBs at 37.333Kbps, and my ISP disconnects every 5 hours. I use Go!Zilla, which is great cause it can estimate how long the downloads selected will take and it reconnects for me. The ammount of time it took to download those 800MBs was about, 83 hours :p.

Hmm..I've gone on warez downloading sprees where I have 100 or so tiny boxes on my task bar of downloads. Then I close my browser window, and all the downloads close with it. Freakin annoying.

Heck, what browser were you using? How come mine doesn't do that?

I think Netscape probably does that.

I don't remember NS closing all download windows when you close the main browser... what I do know is that if you close one of the IE browsers, all the other windows gets killed too.

Nope, Rancid is much better than Weezer. I am sure of that.
