That's cause the hosts are constantly changing their features, etc, it's impossible to keep up. Especially when there are so many of them.

I don't think anyone actually "works" on it. Peo owns it, and Todd is an admin on the board, and there are a lot of moderators, but I'm not sure anyone works for freewebspace. i could be wrong, but I thinmk Peo pretty much takes care of everything.

I was gonna ask that too...

And yes, I have noticed lots of the info isn't very current. With so many free hosts coming and going and only about 10 in the database that are over a year old, I imagine it's not worth the effort to keep it updated. A while back I posted in here about a host that was out of date (MySiteSpace.com). Now, it is under new ownership, and will probably change what they offer sometime soon.

That's just it. It's hard to have one, maybe 2 people working every now and then to accomodate a growing number of hosts changes on a daily basis. There's too much to keep up with. Especially since it's all volunteer work.

Maybe a good idea would be to have hosts submit their sites to the list, and it's up to them to maintain the info posted.

Updating should be done clearly on volunteering, no one has the time to sit down there and find hosts!

How many of those hosts in the *search machines* are still active? It seems more and more wannabehosts start up a service without putting any thought into the venture and end up down the gurgler in a short time. Hard to maintain a database at that rate.

I am sure the tried and true hosts are listed, but why add eg mysuperhostingscam.com when it might be defunct in a couple of weeks?

I think the hosts that survive and do well manage to stay off the lists anyway, which seems to ensure their survival.

They consider themselves lucky that they are not listed, so only the reliable ones should be listed. FWS.net should give them some time then list them.

No no no. If I ran a free web host, I wouldn't want mass exposure, cause I'd want to keep my user base somewhat small.
