Well I'm really not as long in the biz as many of you, so please try it and mail me your opinion:

How about a server side scripting language that is able to access mysql without the security risks of cgi or php and coexists friendly with PHP,CGI,PHP?

How about a very fast SSSL compared to cgi?

How about an SSSL that needs 2-8 hour to learn for an experienced HTML programmer?

Well I tried it and it works really great at my dedicated machine ... the name of the lil piece of freeware is Escapade.

You reach the the website at http://www.escapade.org .

The developer is one of the coders of the original Linux Kernel, Ed Carp. It's really interesting for freehosts, easy to learn for the user (it took me 7 hours to code my first guestbook: 5 hours learning SQL, 2 hours coding the thingy with about 20 lines of code). It works very fast due to the small amount of commands (about 30). It's available for Windows and *nix flavours. I'm very interested in your opinion because I'm preparing the german knowledge/ community website for it.

Thanx !

Let's see, an (expiring) early beta of a proprietary language with no real documentation on its site... Which runs as CGI so it can't be faster than php or mod_perl...

If PHP/perl is installed on the server there's no use for it...

What would you rather have in a host, PHP/perl or some crap that only this one host runs and if they go under you're screwed?

What do you think people on a FWP would rather do, spend 7 hours coding a guestbook in some nutcase language or download a free PHP/perl script and spend 10 minutes installing it?

I just think it sucks. Sorry.

hmmm thats a good point ...

if you think to make it as easy as possible for your users you are right.

I'm thinking more in the direction of the target group that tries to learn programming. PHP and Perl both sux ... lol ... I gave up after I saw the load of books and readings I need to learn em.

and ... the docs for Escapade are OK, also the time limit is cut if you decide to use it.

Proprietary ...yes ... but I think in some short time this will go open source. there is no way around this.

I would agree that Perl sux, but PHP? No way man! It is way too cool. I've learned to be an intermediate PHP programmer in less than a week! That means including MySQL, PostgreSQL & File systems programming.

Wake up kid! Escapade is gonna fall real soon.
