Hi all,
Anyone out there looking for a cheap host, stay well away from Freedom 2 Surf.
If Nick Panayis ever reads this, YES IT IS ME!!

This is what I have been fighting with them about for about 3 weeks now.
I have three domain names registered through F2S (Freedom to Surf) with OpenSRS (F2S is the reseller)
Two are up for renewal on August 7th. I have had problems all year with intermittent outages and connectivity issues (one site was unavailable for 4 days straight)
One, I decided I didn't need anymore, and the other I needed to move to another host, because I need asp support.
It all started when I let them know (giving them plenty notice) that I would not be renewing one domain name, and the other will be moving when it is up. At that time, I was (still am) trying to choose who to move to. (have two in mind). I requested the username and password to be able to manage the domain myself. OpenSRS state on their website that the reseller has to furnish this information if requested.
Nick Panayis is their admin contact. He replied requiring a "written cancellation"... a written cancellation? Where did I say I was cancelling anything? I told him I wasn't renewing it, but not cancelling. He also requested that I give him the host I am moving the other domain to.
These two things alone annoyed me. First, if I am not renewing it, just let it go away, why do I have to send a written cancellation on something I am not cancelling? Why do I have to give him information that he is not entitled to have? That was not what I requested, I simply asked for something as the domain owner I am legally entitled to have.
I replyed telling him that all I want is the information, and what he requested is not valid.
Over the next week, he either ignored my mail or replied "We don't give out that information, we manage the domain for you" Do they think I am a child that can't do these things on my own?
He even told me "just transfer the domains" What? I have PAID your company MONEY to host my sites, are you going to pay me back?
After (what it seems as) endless e-mails that didn't seem to sink into his skull, I contacted OpenSRS support by phone, and verified what it said on the web site. The very helpful gentleman at OpenSRS (highly recommend them by the way) said it is part of the reseller contract. He told me that if I had requested it, and they refuse, then contact their legal department (only by e-mail) and it should be sorted out.
Anyway, that was Monday. I finally have got notice from OpenSRS that they have indeed told Freedom to Surf to give up this information, and I am still waiting. (I am giving them 24 hours). I have already had to talk to a lawyer and he is ready to go if they still stall.
People here want opinions on hosts, this is mine.
Keep away from Freedom to Surf. They (IMO) are little hitlers wanting to keep charge of everything.

You shouldn't even need a laywer, just take it up further with openSRS as they should be able to override the reseller and just reset the login info and provide it to you. You might also be able to have them transfer the domain over to a different reseller or something down that line. OpenSRS is usually very good with the end customers and will give them the benefit of doubt above their own resellers.
