Most are purchased from Amazon, occasionally I'll buy something off the shelf but that's not common for me, the few free programs I've got like Mozilla and such were downloaded.

Wow.. Are you people telling me you've never heard the phrase 'It fell of the truck?' it means 'I got it illegally, stole it, ETC'
