Renewing a Domian before expiration

Say I purchased a domain,and then wanted to renew just nearly before my years was up a different registar,is that possible?

I would not wait until the last minute to transfer to another registrar. We get these all the time, and they seem to always get hung up.

When someone transfers with less than 30 days to go, some registrars will simply block the transfer...

Remember that when you transfer a domain, one additional year is added to the end of the registration period - regardless of when you transfer.

Transfer early and avoid any chances of having to renew at your current registrar and then wait 45 days before you can attemp the transfer again.
