Hmm... Looks like another generic host. There are many around unfortunately. But I guess there are many generic users ;). I wish you the best of luck on your new business Sina.

Sorry, but if there are ads, I can't use it. And I don't wanna pay too.

Yes, the SinaHosting.com service does feature advertising, in the form of a 468x60 banner and a small text link to SinaHosting.com's service.

You have to pay the bills somehow...

Once we grow our member base, we are going to poll our users to find out which advertising system they prefer.

Any ideas for cool new ad systems?

Hmm..it's probably a homefree script, right? Come on, FTP is a lot better.

Yes, our web site is powered by HomeFree... This is for the safety and security of our members.

Giving all users FTP access would end up with a lower level of security for our members.

Homefree has to be the one of the crappiest cgi script for free web space. I can't beleive anyone would pay 300$ for it, nor join a FWP using it...

Well, if you can't upload your ownmade sites, I'm for sure not going to use it. I like frontpage a lot more!
Or am I just wrong and CAN you upload files?

Good form of advertising: On the bottom of pages, or just a small banner (100*30). No pop-ups.

And FTP not safe?

You can upload your own web site using our web based file manager program. By allowing users access to FTP, it can result in insecurities in the system, and therefore, we have not allowed access to it at this time.

We will look into those smaller sized advertising banners, but their commercial viability may not be possible.

How is FTP more insecure than a program that writes to the server? The latter sounds like more of a security problem to me (I've heard someone else mention this one some time back.).

There's plenty of FWP's out there that offer FTP, and they don't seem to have any "insecurities".

I'm still waiting for someone to tell me what security problems are associated with FTP. I'd really like to know.
