No, don't put it on the shim. All you need is a dabon the core, and nothing but the core.

if using a strip packet, make sure to remember to take off the strip..
seen more than a single cpu bite the bullet because they left that tab strip thing on there, you would THINK this would be obvious, but maybe not.
