Heh, rather childish Guitarnerd.
Heh in my opinion Linux IS a superior operating system.
Far less errors that Win, open source, more secure (despite what your article says).
It all depends on the distro, some distros are more secure than others.
Plus Linux distributors aren't out to make a whole lotta cash by whipping up a bunch of insecure software.

Windows is better...that is MY opinion I don't see what the big woopity doo over linux is...yes it is free but because of that big companies will not use it. THey feel better about paying for there stuff

I bet majority here only think Linux is better because it is free and we are kids so we can't afford a $900 OS

Heh, I currently use Windows 98, NT4, 2000, and 95, which I have my own copies of each.
It is not a matter of it being free, but more customizable among other things.
Personally I'd choose Open or FreeBSD over any Linux distro, but I still feel Linux is far superior to windows.
Tell me Guitarnerd, how long have you actually sat down and used Linux as your OS?

Honestly I haven't had much time with Linux...but when it comes down to it (I am gonna get flamed for this) Windows absolutly has more web power by far. I own win95, winNT4, win2k and winXP pro and home (LEGALLY)...The software world (aka THE WORLD) relies on Microsoft

Meh, what really matters to me is security, as I don't ever game, etc. All I use my PC for is to make a connection to the internet, so fancy graphics and cheesy apps don't matter to me.
If you want a secure OS Windows is definately NOT your best bet.

Oracle expands Linux support
Posted: July 14th, 2002
Oracle Corporation has expanded support of its product line for Linux, including the newly-shipped Release 2 of Oracle9i Database, Application Server and the Oracle9i Developer Suite. As a result, Oracle customers throughout the Middle East will now be better equipped to develop and deploy enterprise applications using low-cost Linux hardware while preserving their existing IT skills and investment.

More Linux PCs to hit Wal-Mart shelves
Retail giant Wal-Mart has expanded its experiment in selling low-priced PCs running the Linux operating system.

I can find tons more, such as Dell and Compaq now supporting Linux. Governments switching to Linux (US, China, Norway, etc). Almost all major companies, and even the major "Microsoft only" hosts are looking at Linux. So I can only wonder where you got the information that "big companies will not use it".

Last time I checked out what Hotmail.com was running it was FreeBSD if I remember correctly.
I have also heard rumors that microsoft.com uses a more secure version of IIS.

Really? In three MS-DOS commands I know how to get into a windows box if it has File sharing enabled (and the shares arent password protected) (well not get into it completely but have access to some of its files)

[add]
On a side note i have NEVER done anything illegal on a computer that I am aware of.

Heh, the old NetBIOS 'sploit eh? Old, but Win98 boxes with filesharing enabled are totally vulnerable to this.

according to here, they're on win2k..
