They now have popups!

Horrible!

And my vBulletin board does not work.

May the decent datablocks rest in peace

You know, they need to make money somehow...

Although, those pop ups could be SMALLER.

Hey, if you son't want pop ups, just load your site in a frame, like -------- redirection, or mydomain cloaking. Their scipt only loads the pop up when the age is the top frame. It's not cheating them, it's just using their poor scripting to your advantage. Of course, they will not make any money off of this, so they will still suck.

They can't even get their server's image problems fixed and now they're implementing popups! If I had a reliable and fast server to upload to, I wouldn't mind them as much. But having popups on a crap server is just plain unusable.

They were a good free host, now they are junk. I know you get what you pay for, but there are tons of free hosts that don't put you through all of the crap they have.

Its time to move my site :( It will give me a reason to update it though :)

Anyone want to take bets on how long before Atomichosting.net either puts up banner ads on user pages or goes out of business?

AtomicHosting, in my opinion, will take a long time before they put ads. Closing down, however, may come soon. The reason for my hypothesis? AtomicHosting is run by two kids with extra time on their hands, such kids do not know the business module and will do anything before doing the obvious.

Well, the "Behind the Scenes" link at http://www.datablocks.net used to show John in his bedroom with a laundry basket in the background. Just goes to show what a kid with some extra time on his hands can accomplish!

Well, Datablocks was actually reasonable. John did not offer unlimited hosting. And he started off with a cable modem, which is much better than 56k. (I'm not saying that a cable modem is any good for hosting though.)

I checked Atomichosting a few days ago, they were remodeling, and none of the links work, including the login and members area thingy.

Besides, they claim that they have stopped accepting new registrations.

Hey all

Just noticed this thread.. hehe

Love hearing all the praise..

I have to admit Datablocks has been getting a little run down lately.. this is due to

1) I'm too busy with so many other projects.
2) problems with the current co-lo, their service is CRAP
3) I recently sold it

Problem 1 and 2 will be fixed on march 31'st when Datablocks moves to Utah.. into the world class facilities of Xmission.. Datablocks is moving to a OC-3 connection which is more than plenty bandwidth :) So hang in there

There will be a tech support team that will report to me to provide 24/7 support and maintance..

I was 18 when I started Datablocks a little over 6 months ago.. I'm 19 now.. That behind the scenes pic was taken during the brief time when I had my computer in the laundry room while my room was being renovated.. hehe Hence the laundry basket.. lol

It dont matter how old you are, all that matters is whats in your head.. When I was 14/15 I was running a dialup ISP!

Got alot of customers in the short time that it was around.. I sold it / merged it with another company.. Thats when I used the cable modem.. hehe Datablocks started as a co-lo and still is.. :)

Look for my new projects comming out soon.. I'll have a few CPM deals starting at $2-3 cpm.. Plus paid virtual and dedicated hosting for cheap..

And a whole lot more!!

Good day

John

Hopefully the new company goes with an ad size that is more of an industry standard.... No one is going to want their site to have such a big pop up.

What about that $5 per signup deal?
