Well, over the years i have used a few different forums. I have used UBB, InvisionBoard, YaBB, and others. I wish to here everyones experiences with forums & boards either perl or php driven. Please do tell which you prefer as far as server bandwidth, features, & how difficult it is, etc. I personally am now using InvisionBoard, & i think the features are great BUT: I think its incredibly difficult to setup and maintain compared to other popular forums. Please reply with comments...

Well lots of hosts don't like CGI based forums as they put alot of stress on the server.
Personally I use Invision Board and phpBB2, which are both great PHP based forums.
Though I do prfer phpBB2 as I find it easier to customize, mod, etc.

cgi/perl based boards are going the way of the doe doe bird...clunky, inefficient, old, resource hogs, etc.

PHP boards are starting to explode in popularity...especially if bandwidth is a question because they're faster and more efficient.

Plenty of new php boards @ hotscripts (http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Scripts_and_Programs/Discussion_Boards/).

CGI boards are slow even if you have a fast server you can see difference clearly. Also PHP boards are easy to install and maintain but there are people who like cgi's but as far as i have tested PHP boards are the fastest among CGI and ASP ones.
