View Full Version : Why do people bash tripod.co.uk?

What is wrong with everybody they aren't that bad of a hosting site. I mean sometimes they are down but can someone tell me a host that isn't??
Look at what they offer if you find a better site for free that runs faster and has no ads tell me.....if not shut up

ok every host has downtimes....but tripod well..they are down alod...

Tripod.co.uk really has it's problems. The ftp is shakey at best as well as the php/mysql. The php's SMTP has also been disabled. Add ads on top of all this and you have a below average host. ogre2

tripod.co.uk is ok, the only real probs are with their ftp, and the ads are just plain horrible, plus its slowier than average hosts.

slowier..thats a new one..anyways tripod.co.uk are a great host.

there ftp has always been fast for me, the banners are bad but they dont work on forums!

lets see, the php/mysql isnt the best, the db isnt that fast but like you say its a free host with aload of users. Hell unlimited space and band, what more can you ask for?

The thing i like about tripod is the online user cp, you can eaisly run querys and edit your mysql db, edit your site, upload pages etc..and it has a ton of help there as well..

8/10 for a freehost...top stuff

Bah, it's free. Nobody has any right to ----- about them at all. With what they provide, people should be happy with a slow MySQL database then NO DATABASE and a buggy FTP then NO FTP etc etc. People should be happy with what they have, yet some people are just cheap bast*rds!

yea gotta agree the elf on this one. tripod.co.uk isnt really that bad but if you dont want to or cant pay then go with it :cool2:

tripods ftp was slow for me about 3 days ago, took around an hour to upload my ibf, im not complaining i dont even use them, i was just testing sth.

I agree. Be happy with what you've got. You don't have to praise it as "too good to be true", but you shouldn't criticize its features for being too minimal either. It's reasonable, in my opinion.

ONLY problem I have with Tripod.co.uk is the NEW BIG ADS on the front page of my site(s)

They DONT show up in my forums tho :)


Their FTP has been FAST for me.
and downtime has been LESS than myother hosts.

most people use that site for a forum

Forum=ads don't show up

Their ftp isn't really down that much compared to some free hosts which will remain nameless.

If anyone knows a service as good as this that doesn't have problems be sure to

A. Post it here

B. PM me

C. Remove your tripod account for others : )
