What about the renewal fee? There was a thread earlier talking about how they charge you a lot to renew your domain.

So should I just go ahead and register one and hope that the prices of .CC domains are going to drop in the next year?

i think you should go ahead & register because the renewal fee is 20$ which is 5$ higher than the reg fee, you can register the domain for a few years to save money
i saw that .CC domains cost 50$ per year on www.dot.cc so namezero is alot cheaper

I would not count on .cc domains getting any cheaper. The ccTLDs are not in the same class as the CNO domains - they will never have the volume to support the registry in the same way that CNO does, so they will always be more expensive.

The only thing I woulc caution you over is to make sure that you are not signing a long term contract, and that you actually own the domain with full control when you sign up for cheap domains.

Nothing is free - and a registrar is not going to sign up a .cc domain at a loss and then let you walk - he'll make his money somewhere...
