huh,

i meant that I dont want ads, but they are okay, as long as they are not popups and are small. Id prefer buttons and/or text links, but if it's not available, i would prefer ads.

thanks

www.tripod.co.uk Not bad speed, banners that don't show up half the time on forums (which I think you need this for) "unlimited" bandwidth, not sure about space. I don't think they are too reliable but I know alot of people do use them'

Not bad speed, kinda reliable, no ads

I agree with Matt8: Tripod.co.uk is about as good as you're going to get.

Did I mention reliability?

From the other posts Ive seen, they said that tripod has not much reliability.

There is alot of dispute about tripod......most people think it is down alot but I have never had it down for me or the ftp but that's just me I think you should at least give it a try though and decide for yourself

Most people either love or hate tripod hardly anyone is in between......

granddbz- Face the fact. You just ain't gonna find a host with 100% reliablity and speed. They just don't exist.

Your gonna have to get a paid webhost if you really want it that. Otherwise your with tripod or something of that quality.

I know of many cheap hosts like www.1uhost.com which can get you unlimited space/bandwidth/email mysql, php,CGI, SSL for only 6.75 a month. Not a shabby deal

but what wold happen if I use like 1000 gigs/day? and 100 gigs of space?

(just kiddin)

I really wouldn't trust an unlimited host.

Why not trust a paid unlimited host? Because they can also disconnect high bandwidth sites without warning, and unlike free hosts, they're also robbing you of your money, since they probably won't refund you (at least free hosts can't hurt your wallet)!

On the other hand, there are some unlimited pay hosts that say they won't disconnect your site except in extreme cases - they expect the user to use common sense for Pete's sake! For instance, this pay host - http://www.win-hosting.co.uk/ - says that many pay hosts allow 1 -5 gb of monthly traffic and that's nothing and that they have clients which transfer more than 5 gb a DAY!

As for the user who said he can use 1 tb of transfer a day and 100 gb disk space, try to find me one site that is! The average website isn't going to use enough bandwidth to pull the host down, especially if the host gets a large enough customer base (for instance, Tony Holmes of CW said that they've always allowed unlimited bandwidth/transfer because at more than 1 million members, the cost per user is small).

Uhhh...you do know that Host once is also an unlimited host and cost $5 a month and they turned out to be a scam.

I've been using Tripod Uk for the last week and I set up my forum. But when I attempted to do some adminstration on it e.g create new topics and forums, I haven't been able to even access it. The board is an invision one and it comes up with Errors at Coolfreepages and also at Spaceports so I have no idea which host I can use now.
Any suggestions?

Just face the facts man, paid service or less bandwith and not that high specs, i know you want them for eps or something, you don't need much bandwith in the beginning.

The ads are there for good reason, and you should leave them there seeing as you're not paying for the hosting. :devious2:
