You have one?

Bruce

No cell for me...

Hell, they'll practically give me the cell for free, but I can't afford an other $50 a month to use it. For my internet connection, and phone service, Verizon is already getting almost $100 a month, and now they want another $50 for cell phone service?!?! That's murder, I tell ya!!

I have a cell phone that I keep with me always. It is my lifeline in regards to business and personal effects. In fact, I don't even have a landline because I am always out and about.

I was always against mobiles, but got one last year.

I use it a bit; but not that much really. I'd never go on a plan; I just don't see any point, so I have prepaid as well.

Cellphones are useful for certain things, like if you are a plumber or something, and are always out of the office. It is also useful to call friends, tell them where you are, so you can meet up, stuff like that. But I don't have one. I hate phones, and hate getting calls. I don't know what it is about them, but I can never pay attention to the conversation when on the phone. Sometimes after I hang up, I can't even remember who called...it's sad.

I never use my phone either, if someone wants to contact me they can just leave a IM, phones cost too much, and arent worth it.

I send and receive about 3 phone calls per year, so I'd have no use at all for a cell phone. Don't have any use for any type of phone really, except for the internet.

I have a cell phone, my lovely and inexpensive Nokia 3360, silver coloured.
With me at all times as my landline is usually busy, so its the only way people can contact me. :)

I have one. I only use for important calls (such as to pick me up from work or if someone changes plans when I'm not home), but I don't use it for average conversations. I have a pre-paid plan, and have used about $60 in the past 3 months

Including a car charger, handsfree headset, charger, $50 radio shack gift certificate, 6 months of caller id, call waiting, voicemail, and 6 months of service with 250 weekend and 100 anytime minutes. :)

The price they charge isn't that bad for what you get, but the problem is, I don't need that much so I don't want to pay that much.

Here is the current "starter" special I can get in my area:

-500 minutes/month
-unlimited night (11pm - 3am) and weekend minutes
-caller id, call waiting, call forwarding, 3-way calling, 411 connect, mobile messenger, voice mail, etc., etc.
-$199 setup (cost of phone)
-$49.99/month -- 55&cent a minute over

The point is, I don't ----in need that many minutes!!! Yet they don't offer a smaller plan!!! Ugh.

I live in Maine... the answer to the previous question, along with the one you asked, are both no.

I looked into their prepaid packages recnetly as well... they aren't looking much better...

-Audiovox CDM-100pp + accessories = $60 + $15 setup

-100 minutes = $35
*expires after 30 days

Now what the ---- is up with that?!

Yes, I have a cell phone. It's just a basic prepaid one from Wal-Mart, but that's fine for me as I never use it. In the past five years maybe ten calls at most have been placed. It's purely for emergencies and it's never been the receiver of a call-- I actually couldn't tell you its number if I had to.

Those that seem to be on their cell phones twenty-four hours a day genuinely irk me. I haven't seen them too much here, maybe they're more prevalent out west, but in Europe a walk down the street of even the quietest town would make you believe everyone's got a cell phone-- if not two or three-- and they're always on and active. That doesn't bother me so much though, it's what they're talking about that baffles me: they have absolutely nothing in the world to say, yet they say it anyway. This is a piece of an actual conversation I overheard on Nassau street in Dublin: "You won't believe the car I just saw go by, it was blue! (Pause) I don't know what kind, it was the kind with windows." Who in their right mind would say that? More so, who would want to hear it? I just don't understand the two people on either end of that line, though I suppose if you're tied to the phone for all your waking hours you do quickly exhaust your supplies of interesting topics and bottom-of-the-barrel lines like this are all that's left.

IF I get one, I can imagine it going off ALL THE TIME. Everyday when I coem home I have a bunch of messages, and for every message, 3 people called for me and didn't leave one. I don't know if I really want to pay to talk to these people either...

Why does everyone have an obsession with Nokia? Talk about being brainwashed into pointless allegences to large corporations.

Seriously, I got an Alcatel, and it does all I need it to do - ie: send messages, and do the whole "PHONE" call thing. Then these young kids come up to me and start making fun of me, "AHAHAHAHA, IVE GOT A NOKIA 34353569876 AND YOUVE GOT AN ALCATEL!!!!"

"Your point being?" I ask them.

"AHAHAHAHA MINE HAS BETTER RING TONES THAN YOURSS! YOU SUCK!"

I think the only ring tone I've ever used on my mobile is the one that actually sounds like a phone ringing.

And BTW my auntie who works in SingTel gave us a Nortel handphone in 1999 and it was pretty basic. And it came at the size of a Nokia 5110. But I destroyed all that by locking the SIM Card (PIN) :p

Nokia 7650 has a color screen, gprs and bluetooth, AND a small digital camera in the back!!! and Nokia 7250 has a color screen, wireless technology, and its triple-band!!! Right now i just have an old Nokia 8210. And i just want to say that telecommunications in North America are WAY behind those of Asia's. I mean, we don't have any "calling plans" or anything. we just buy a phone, get a sim card, either prepaid or monthly service, and then we can do whatever we want with the phone

Its cheaper to do business in asia, thats the basic reason. Also, telecom companies have practically run eachother into the ground lately by being so competitive. You can get a $20/month plan with 500 weekend minutes and 60 weekday minutes plus a free phone right now. The telecom companies barely make (if not lose) so much money, they can't afford to upgrade infrastructure. And by the way, we have that digital camera phone, etc, also, people just don't see much of a point in it. Asians are more receptive to new technology than Americans who prefer to think the older it is the better it is and that modern technology is corrupting our lives.
