View Full Version : billing info?

i was thinking about buying some web space for my site that's currently just a sub forum from my friend. Anywayz, the problem i'm having is that even though i find good hosts and things i want, i don't have a good way of paying. Most of them either want you to pay the yearly bill all at once, or pay through credit card or something. Is there any hosts that are willing to just send you a monthly bill where you can just write them a check back? or where they just deduct the cost from your bank account monthly?

I'm only 16, this is why i'm asking. My mom would of course be the one to pay, but i would pay her through money i earn or something. If there isn't any hosts out there that do this, then i'll have to just try to find a free host that supports MySQL, PHP, and stuff like that while still giving me good space, and good bandwidth, which everyone knows is probably not out there. I did have a host, but it was just for XMB boards, and i had wBB, so when i put my wBB board and it didn't have their coding in the footer of the forums, they deleted my account. And i'm not sure if i could fool their robots from finding out if i tried that again.

So.....any help would greatly be appreciated.

Hello,

Many hosts accept money orders and checks, but most accept 3 months upfront with the check or money order.

hmmmmm....alright but do any of them allow you to get your site activated without having to pay first? If so, can someone give me a link to a reliable one? Thanks for any help.

Ummm, are you sure? Lots of hosts do, if the customer fails to send in payment within 7-10 days, the host would consider it a claim on the 30 Day Money Back Guarantee (which all good hosts offer, if they don't, avoid them).

I believe if you contact the host, most will be willing to arrange it with you. ;)

How hard did you look? What kind of hosting (cheap or $$$)?? Low end RS/dedicated or a real host??

I suppose I should have said I've never "seen" one because I was merely making an observation that all teh hosts I've seen expect payment first.

I stay away from cheap hosts though, as I've never spent less than $15 a month, however, I'm not hoping to be needing another host for quite some time.

Any host that accepts money orders then processes accounts before receiving the money is asking for trouble. What stops people signing up using 50gb of transfer then never sending a cheque/money order.

Does your hosting company do this? If not, you might name some of the hosts that do, seeing that there are lots :devious2:

It's common sence to watch the customer, even if they were to use the max of their package, it's just the same as them saying "I want my money back", the host will lose anyway. Just this way, it's less work (having them send the MO, then you sending payment back).

Jan: Yes I do.

If you have a thousand accounts spread over 10 servers it's not as easy to monitor each account. Sure if you have one server, with 50 accounts it's simple. That being said I had to delete a few sites today

Well, when you charge $25/year that's what you get. More accounts then you can deal with. Your also a "easy" target for abuse. If you have 1000 accounts, then you need to hire more staff so you CAN deal with the problem!
