I've been keeping my mouth shut for awhile...but http://www.rootsweb.com can do what you want. Today it's been a bit slow and not responding, but I think that's because of a snow storm in my area. I uploaded a 14mb .mov file like almost a year ago, and it never got deleted. I even uploaded mp3's (which is against their TOS, but the mp3's aren't copyrighted...and they didn't notice.) For me, FTP was quite fast...but maybe it's just because I have a 33.6k modem and that's as fast as they go. Dunno. It's kinda hard to find where to register for free web space; it's actually @ http://accounts.rootsweb.com and click on "freepages accounts". I don't know if it actually is unlimited space, because I don't know if I have exceeded 100mb yet. Beware, the addy is quite long.

When I signed up, it took a couple hours (maybe 1-3). and they had that same msg when I did it too...so maybe it won't take that long. Why do u need it today? I'm sure the world can wait..lol.

Why not zip up the AVI's or transform to Windows Media or RealMedia? I'm sure the AVI's could be much less than 11 megs with compression. Then you could use NBCI!

Yes, unfortunately, Nbci is the only "unlimited" space FWP that actually DOESN'T throttle download speeds; they don't have to, because they aren't going broke like Crosswinds, Stas, and Spaceports are.

Hey wowsers! I just tried downloading my movie file (another one at 11mb) and it was going between 4.5-5k per sec...on a 33.6k modem, so there you go. :)
Er wait..now it's around 3.5k or so...usually the beginning's faster I guess. Still it's pretty fast for my modem. Most of the time it's around 2.5 to 3k.

From v3space terms: "The maximum upload file size is 3MB. The limit for jpegs is 1 MB, for gifs is 1MB and for HTML or Text files is 0.5MB"
Looks like the 20mb is gone :-( or do they not enforce it ?
cheers

Its a shame Foprtunecity.com use to offer 20 meg file size & fortunecity.co.uk 10 meg file size gone down to 5 megs but mpeg avi not allowed any more.

Currently I am using homestead, but only today found out that apparently even tho they say they support .jar and .class files, they DONT. As for days I've been struggling to publish an applet which works on the preview page, and even works if I link it off a picture on the site. But wont let me place it on the index page as wanted.
So any suggestions of a host for a small business that supports these file formats??
merci..

I dunno, but rootsweb has allowed every file type that I've tried so far. I even tried cgi and stuff, although I deleted that since I didn't understand what the heck I was doing. I think their staff is very slacking in the freepages section as they do not seem to be even publicizing their offer. I think I've exceeded the supposedly 100mb limit that freewebspace.net says they have. (Rootsweb says it's unlimited in their website). They even let me upload mp3's and movies...so why not java files? I don't understand why homestead wouldn't let u upload them. I've seen many homestead sites wif java applets ... I think.
