So now that we have been here a while do you like or dislike the forums. Personally i like them, considering it brings the newest posts to the top plus more features imho.

Whereas 2 or 3 years ago the message board standard for the web seemed to be based on the old (now horribly outdated) wwwboard script by Matt Wright, the new standard seems to have become the UBB-look. I like it a lot more.

Yes indeed...
But UBB is so expensive nowadays. I use ikonbaord and with the hacks installed it looks exactly like UBB. Another good forum is VB (Which This Board Uses). I think the future is going to be PHP so VB is right in the running to take out best board.

When it fristed changed I did not like it all that much, but now I have got used to it and now I really like it better then the old style of boards.

These ones seem so much more proffesional. Those old ones are really poor, by my standards. A lot faster though, and use a ton less resources on the server. Still, UBB, vB, iB and such are great. And ikonBoard is free, which makes it even better.

I still don't understand what the person who invented threaded message boards was thinking at the time. Who wants to click to see each new post? That was just so annoying. That was probably why these forums have much more posts and traffic than the old ones, because they are much easier to use.

I figure as long as it gets the message across, and is not confusing it is good. I like this type of board best though

You could reply to a certain post, but then again, many people just used the link they found on that post without replying to it. They just used that link to post their own ideas, making it so much more confusing.

This kind of message board is definitely better... I can't stand the old forums now, they're so hard to use!
Now I'm wondering how I actually managed to get used to the old forums before...
