View Full Version : Why is this?

OK, I really don't mean to be a ----- about these type of things, but this is starting to get to me.

The first rule in the forum rules is that you cannot spam or promote your own service. Now I'm not mentioning names here, but *cough* amelen does this on a regular basis. Is there some reason why he can get away with it and no one else can?

OK, i used to be on T35, I even thought it was pretty decent for a while. But now I feel that if anyone is using it, it's because of self promotion on amelen's part.

I'm not trying to attack amelen, or anybody, I just feel that if amelen can seemingly break the first rule of the forums and get away with it, how come I can't?

Any particular post you are talking about? I don't recall getting a reported post email :confused2

If this is the freewebspace section you are talking about, the hosts get a bit more leeway than they would in any other forum.

There are times of course that they can't reply and if it is spotted by one of us, then it is edited or removed.

Well, if you just do a search in his messages, you'll see what I mean. And I understand granting them a bit of leeway, but he has like 400 posts. I'll bet 300 of them promote his host. And I'm not saying he's the only one that does it. He's just the most specific example that I can think of right now.

anywho, here are a few examples.

http://www.freewebspace.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31351
http://www.freewebspace.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31384
http://www.freewebspace.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28403 (this one was suggested and not all the requirements were even met)
http://www.freewebspace.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23093

etc, etc...again, I must stress this is not an attack. I just want some sort of clarification as to why some people seem to get away with it.

If you spend a bit more time there, you will find that hostultra, amzweb and various others also do much the same. All have had their posts edited or removed at sometime. An example or two:

Yeah, I've noticed amzweb get really defensive of his services a few times.

But that's neither here nor there. Is there a reason why there is more leeway and tolerance shown in the freewebspace section?

Shouldn't you all just be more active?

We are all as active as we can be, that was in response to your previous post about us shutting an eye. Obviously we can't be everywhere, so if someone sees a suspect post, then use the report button.
