Mine too is down
Let's see...
Server move, then electricity problem, then server move continues....
That leaves us with ONE choice to explain the downtime now!
Godzilla is attacking the server facility!!!!! :devious2:

Ironically,
check this:
http://www.valcatosupport.com/status/
All green??
Is it really an "Server status" script, or they just put those little green circles there.... :biggrin2:

It should not be called "Current Server Status", but "What we want to achieve as uptime"
It's down since 11:30pm. It's now 5:40am

What about the 99,5% uptime guarantee they offer???
99,5% = 3h36m downtime per month
Today (only) they were more than 5hrs down :p

I highly doubt it was a kernel problem. The server could be pinged, however the hostname did not resolve.

Ask for some compensation?

I would say he did $9.99 / 12 to find the refund for that month

Hehe, i wonder what they will say if you asked them for a refund for that amount..

It wouldn't be worth it, going to all that trouble for 83 cents.

Not unlimited :), 100gb's probably. Paul you have to realize their will always be someone cheaper than you but the thing is, people will eventually realize you get what you pay for :)

Another member who is weak in Maths :D
365 x 24 = 8760 Hours in a Year
8760 Hours in a Year - 8716.2 (99.5% Uptime) = 43.8 Hours the host can be down :)
30 x 24 = 720 Hours in a Month
720 Hours in a Month - 716.4(99.5% Uptime) = 3.6 Hours of downtime :)
Also, to calculate the amount they owe you:
9.99/(12 Months x 30 Days x 24 Hours) = $0.00114/Hour
This way if they were down for 6 hours, they owe you:
$0.006842 :D
