Today was my first day back to school as well and what fun it was :). With the 6'8" senior from last year gone, I know claim title of the tallest :p. The freshmen look like little umpa loompas that are lost, it's quite funny :D.

Here's my schedule:
Art I
Dual Credit United States / Virginia History
...2nd period continued (2 hour course)
Chemistry
Algebra II
Spanish III
English 11: Phase IV
<add>
Our periods are 50 minutes each, 4 minute breaks between each to get to next class, ~30 minutes for lunch.

<add>
Phase IV is the highest phase and it means the class is aimed toward college prep as opposed to lower phases which are just basic English 11.

Since we have a five day scheduling system, I'm just going to list off my courses instead. It also seems that Canada is different from some other countries as here, "10" (or 1x) courses are for grade 10, "20" (or 2x) courses are for grade 11, and "30" (or 3x) courses are for grade 12. (Grade 9 is still Junior High in Canada)

I'm in my grade 10 year right now.

Here it is...

1. Social Studies 10IB
2. Programming 10
3. Information Processing 10
4. English 10IB
5. Physics 20IB
6. Biology 15IB
7. Chemistry 25IB
8. Communications 21A
9. Physical Education 10
10. Math 20IB
11. French 20IB
12. Financial Management 10

Since I'm taking so many courses, I have to take courses through my lunch hour as well. :(

You do everything more advanced than everyone else. Grade 7 IB programs get to do grade 7 math in a term(half a semester) and they get to start grade 8 math. It goes like because by grade 11(final highschool year), you get to start pre-calculus.

Also, you get a special diploma for graduating in the IB program. It's kind of for the 1337 students. :D

My brother is in it.

Some schools around here offer the IB program as well as the regular and immersion.

I didn't take IB in the lower grades, so I guess I'm fast-tracking through this all. But in Edmonton, it seems that the norm is having no IB in the early/middle years, and just take IB in high school. I'm not sure if this is what happens in other cities though.

Anyway, I supposedly finish much of the first year of university at the end of high school.

well...in my school..there isn't IB...but there is AP (Advanced Placement) but can only be taken by grade 12 students...AP is a first year university course. so when you go to university, you don't take the first year and go to second year

High school starts at grade 10 here...
Kindergarten to Grade 6: Elementary School
Grade 7 to 9: Junior High.

Well, my school offers both the IB and the AP program.

This is what my schedule looks like:

1. PE/Health 1
2. Lab Science 9
3. Human Literature 9
4. Choir 9/10
5. French II
6. History 9
7. Algebra II/Trigonometry
Homeroom
Lunch

I have 80-85 minute periods, so i get four classes a day, rotating on a 7-day schedule. I'm not on any type of special program right now, cause the IB and AP are only offered to 11th and 12th graders, but I should be on track to be taking pre-calculus next year.

Each period is 50 min long, with a 10 min break in-between classes. There is 40 min allocated for lunch, and 20 min nap time.
Morning classes starts at 8:10, lunch at 12:00 and afternoon classes starts at 1:10. School officially ends at 5:00. But usually, the teacher will make you stay a bit longer because s/he wants to "finish this unit today".
Yes, I have to go to school on Saturday.

I guess anybody not living in Asia will find this schedule a bit queer..... ;)
