I am trying to install a program, (voting booth and others)
that are php, but how do I install them? like
just think of them as cgi? upload/make folders, and
chmod?
I have never did php before, have no clue, CGI
I have did before.. any one who can help.??

Your best bet is to read the readme file that came with the script.

well all you have to do is upload it, mabey there might be a file that you might have to chmod.
then just run the whatever file you think is right.
What script are you using?
that might help us a little

Whenever I upload PHP scripts, ones I write, or ones I download, I just upload them with WS_FTP in ASCII mode and they work fine. No readme documents have ever said to CHMOD...so I don't.
It might depend on the script you are installing, though.

chmod. it's better to check that.
but sometimes they are set automatically, if you copy them to an directory with executable files or the extension is recognized and so the server sets chmod right.
(or if you transfer from unix to unix the chmod info should stay the same and correct.)

You usually don't need to chmod php scripts. Maybe data files need to be made writable if it doesn't use mysql, but nothing needs to be executable unless you're running php in cgi mode.

Thanks for all the help with this.. I got one
of the two PHP scripts working, the other one
I can not get working so im willing to pay
someone a small fee if they will install it
and make sure it works.
