Need Url hit script!

Hey babys,

Did you see the thread on free services?

Well read up!

We need a script that - with one click - will send
a browser hit to all:

1. Url's of sites you own.
2. All Links of a site. ( all pages )
3. Redirections

Why? oh Why you may rightfully ask?

We're just plum crazy! tee hee.

No babys - we need it to keep our test sites alive!

And that ain't no jive!

i have a program called XENU that checks all the URLS for dead links

or do you just wnat to get fake hits? =]

but we really need fake hits.

( so the host doesn't delete our site, until we

start getting hits on it from the Search Engines

- or are ready to promote it. Or they might just delete

certain pages from a site - that havent been hit - I've had

some hosts do that too!. Oucch! )

I certainly don't advocate doing such a thing. Pay a few bucks and get a hosted site.

Anyway, you could write a shell script that uses wget, lynx, perl LWP, etc to download your site. Then put that into a cron to run hourly, etc.

No, its not a question of running "hourly".
Much different than that.
If you just get one or two hits a month, your okay with some of these hosts I believe,
So, you could manually run it once monthly - just to
make sure all your free web hosts get hit.

Or even better, if it suddenly popped onto the desktop to
remind you.

I guess most of you never had this problem. but if you
have over 20-30 sites you might.
Its a drag to revist one - just when you might use
it -, and see its been deleted though
let me tell you.

doesn't sound like you're the type to be running 20-30 sites then, it can't be worth it if no one's visiting them to keep them alive. just stick to one and you'll be fine.

My original post did not ask for opinions on what I wanted - - it just asked if any body had or new of a script
of this type.

a hoot for but I dont tell you , you dont want them ]

IMHO: It seems this url hits script would be about internet 101 for any programmer types.

I would also guess it was written eons before the first porn site was ever uploaded.

But all I get is a 404 error page - then a clickhereto
find directory opens. Did this announcement cause them
to delete your page/ site?

Obviously spaceports didn't delete the page. They just don't allow people to link to files from other sites. Just copy and paste the link to your browser.
