i tried to find the forums post but it got deleted so here it goes

whats all the *popular* vb, ubb, tforum, snittz, mysql, cgi, php, asp fourms you know and their URLs? They can be free or not and what they run on IE,

Wouldn't all messge boards be "open source"? Or do you mean that you allow people to edit the coding, and the others strictly forbid it?

Actually, not all are open source. UBBHackers had to shut down when the UBB people changed it to being non-open source.

But what I mean is, couldn't you just open up the files and edit them? Even if it is not legal, it could be done though, right?

Open Source means that you can every file and distribute it as you changed it. All the boards I mentioned except YaBB, phpBB and BlazeBoard do not allow you to do that. So it's practically just more freedom, you can do anything you want the the source (with some restrictions).

And yes, we have a PHP team working on a PHP version of YaBB2 :)
