yeah, well i just got myself a copy of VBB v2.0 and i know i'm not going to use portland or f2s to stash it, but i dont want to have to use my main server as it, as it has already used up 2000 MB of bandwidth this month.
need a server with MySQL, and PHP. that's it. if no banners, better.

Hmm... PHP and MySQL. There's only one that I know of that is suitable for a board.
http://www.datablocks.net has 20 megs of space for your forums, but they have a very ugly popup. You could get rid of that by using a redirection service like cjb that has URL cloaking by loading the page in a frame.

if you had the money to purchase vbb
why didn't you go for a paid hosting?
niv

well, why are you were you here in the first place if you weren't going to pay for hosting neither? ;)
advanced hosting at gcsnet.net requires 200+ hits per day and until i can reach that (we get what, 4 hits a day xP ), i cant do anything about it. their basic hosting crap doesn't have php/mysql but their advanced does.

They no longer require 200+ hits per day as long as you are ready to upoad your content.

GCSNET needs 200+ hits/day now
they changed the rules again

they need 200+ to survive
after all
it's only 1 popup per 12 hour or something

actually, you're wrong:
Update
Only sites that can generate at least 200 unique pageviews per day may request
our hosting service*. We simply cannot afford to put small sites on our server.
If you are interested in our advanced hosting and can generate 200+ daily unique
hits, please e-mail support@gcsnet.net and we'll get back to you within 24 hours.

most links come from OUTSIDE the network and so the bandwidth keeps getting eaten up. (I host fansubbers.)
