hello everyone.. this is my first post here... here is my story...
my site gets around 30,000 - 35,000 hits a day... and around 110,000+ page views a day. i have my site currently at tripod.. becuase when tripod had their premium membership.. i was a member.. and i had no ads the site... then just today!! i freaked out.. cuz my site was down.... (( it has been on tripod since August 2000 )) when i loged onto my account.. every single file has beed erased!! so i had backups of it on my hd .. so i uploaded most of it today... but to my surprise... i have ads popping up now.. so they must of found out.. they goofed up.. cuz my primium membership expired about 2 years ago.. and tripod dont offer that service anymore... and i try to search for free web hosts... but the traffic i generate.. most likely beyond the limits they give me.. so i am looking for unlimited traffic.. with at least.. 10mb of space... right now my site.. http://videomasterz.tripod.com or http://faq.videomasterz.com (" redirects " ) is temp. not functioning.. fully.... some links dont work.... until i find the best webhost out there.. i ahve signed up at http://www.f2s.com but dont know about the traffic they will offer me.. thanks in advance for your help.. :)

F2S should be giving you unlimited bandwidth, so there probably won't be any problem there.

SO TELL ME? How do you get that many hits on a site like yours? I don't mean to be rude, but it's not the nicest looking site. Whats your secret?

thank you... Hoth... i am still waiting for the confirmation email.. i still havnt recieved it yet.. and when i try to log in.. it wont... let me...
To: jonny,
my site is the FAQ for this client called audioGnome... audioGnome is like Napster but a hella alot better... it has been on zdnet.. and they rated it 5 stars... as for the hits... if you download aG and open it up.... and if you click on the tab that says "web1" you will see my page there... so you can say... i get 1 hit for everytime someone opens up audioGnome or aG... or access it through the browser... and thats how i get that many hits.. cuz alot of ppl have aG...

If it's been less than a day, then they probably haven't activated the account yet. For some reason F2S activates all new accounts at one time every day, instead of letting you use it immediately.

yes i see... i did recieve an email.. just recently asking me to activate my account.. so i did... but the FTP still doesnt work.. so i think i would have to wait a bit more for them to activate the FTP.. for my site.. thank you all for the responses..
its just sad that tripod deleted all my files dating back since 1997.. that really pissed the hell out of me.. lol.. oh well i feel confident about f2s.com :)

your site seems like the ideal customer for an advertising-supported fwp. small, with a very large number of hits.
I would have thought that they would prefer one small very busy site to having a larger number of less-active sites.

well.. we dont allowing any ads on our sites.. especially the FAQ site.. of the client... we dont advertise.. and we dont allow any advertising... we feel that it would degrade.. the client.. with a whole bunch of ads.. that most dont even pertain to the subject...

Ahhhhhh, so you'll need a paid host until you find that bandwidth tree :)

no... i am going to use f2s.com right now.. and i will see if they dont shut me down for too many hits... hey.. i dont make any money.. i do this for the enjoyment... of helping people... dl mp3s.. and so on... one site.. mycomputer.com wanted to charge me over $2,000 a month.. for using there FREE counter.. they told me that.. they are changing into a paid service.. and i guess i would have to pay that much amount according to the amount of hits...

Hm, you don't have downloads from your site, do you? If so, f2s will kill them. They don't even allow small zip files...*sigh*

no.. there are no downloads at all.. just plain .html files.. and some .gifs ... :)

Why didnt anybody recommend gcsnet.net? Its the best host around, fast, lots of features. They are new, so a website with so many hits would be great for them.

AlabamaMan -- gcsnet.net does have pop up ads, even if it's just once per session. If they didn't have the pop up they might be just about perfect, but they do have it.

Well, F2S, doesn't give out free domainhosting. Are you going to use a forwarding service on your domain? If so, you can make it use the URL hiding service where it loads your site in a frame. Then you could use http://www.datablocks.net which has pop-ups, but the pop-ups don't load when the site is loaded in a frame. Datablocks is also supposed to be faster than F2S.
