ok so i now formated and my damn pc didnt go online i got a conflict so i changed the slot and now it works
but the problem is before the format i had a c and d drive each was a diffrent hard drive but now my 2nd hard drive is e and my cd rom is d
is there a way to fix this without opening the pc

maybe i didnt say this right
after the format this is what happened
old c: is now c: (hard drive)
old d: is now e: (harddrive)
old e: is now d: (cd rom)
i really dont want to format
how can i fix this ?

I think TweakUI may be able to do that. Go to google.com and type in tweakui, then hit "I'm Feeling Lucky." It will take you directly to Microsoft's TweakUI page. After you download it, run tweakui.inf to install (you wont believe how long it took me to figure that out).

Well I'm lazy. Besides, TweakUI doesn't extend very far. *starts resource-hacking explorer.exe* :chinese2:

i think i installed it when i clicked on the inf file it said tweakui should be run the in the control panel, install now ?
i clicked yes
and its not in the control panel :confused:

Windows does allow you to reassign drive letters, but the method is different for Win9X and the NT based versions... type 'drive letters' in your windows help search box for instructions.
One note though, it won't let you change your second HD to D:\ if your CD-ROM is already using that letter, so you'll first have to change your CD-ROM to F:\ in order to free that letter, then change the HD to D:\
After that, you can set your CD-ROM to E:\
