i need a free host with no banners,
things it MUST support = php
things that would be nice = ssi,cgi
and if i sign up to a free domain-name service i must be able to use that free space provider for it..

Sorry, but I doubt you will find anyone other than f2s offering php without banners.

http://www.zabia.net supports PHP and CGI (and MySQL) and doesn't have any ads, and also has free domain hosting, so it sounds like it has what you're asking for. The only problem is that they only offer 100 MB data transfer per month.

Looks like they aren't processing applications at nalhaz. Too bad, look awesome (but is based in Singapore : too slow?)

How does *anyone* expect a free host to stay open by giving something for nothing? How will F2S, and hosts similar to it, stay open?
If anyone can figure out how to run a successful free web space provider without ads and generate a profit, PLEASE reply. I'd love to know how to do this (legally within the United States).
By the way, I'm being sarcastic. There is no way.

Portland and f2s are supported by people paying for other services (sometimes unrelated to webspace).

I still really don't know how F2S does it for this long... there are no ads on the members pages, they all use FTP which, of course is ad-free, and there are no ads at all on the f2s website. They must get quite a but of donations to run

As Cracker said, f2s has other means of income. See http://www.f2s.com/about/about%20page.htm

F2S also gives away free high speed internet access without ads. I know they have a few advanced things they charge for (such as their web hosting package with domain hosting, 1 GB space, etc.), but I don't see how all their free services would really lead to enough people paying to make it profitable. Somehow they've been doing it for quite a while, though.

Why do not try http://www.barrysworld.com, I have a site hosted there, too. They have no ads and they are fast :D
