Yes, it's hilarious! :)

(Of course it's true that web hosts, free or otherwise,
are on the web to earn an income. But they put all their
points in a most amusing way.)

Geez... They don't get it do they? If it wasn't for Free Webspace Providers, the internet wouldn't have exploded in such an amazing fashion like this.

That doesn't mean we have to like them. It's not like they're in it for the betterment of the world, they're in it for themselves. The good things that come out of it aren't really their goal.

Hoth, you can bet I'm in it for the money. Do you have a job? Do you get paid? If you do, then I guess you are a real evil person for doing it for money...try doing it for free. Would you? Of course not!! geez. Get a friggin life, this is my job and I have bills just like anyone else.

They may be in it for the money, but there are positive side-effects, and we should be thankful for that.

All I'm saying is that there's no obligation to be eternally thankful to someone for doing their job. It's not charity.

Well, I didn't say that I was eternally grateful for their services. Just happy that the internet has evolved to the way it is today because of their services.

I can certainly agree with that, but also see the point of the link given at the start of this thread, as it applies to some places that are less than honest. There are good hosts and there are bad hosts. It's really not much different from paid hosting, in that the host provides services in exchange for the revenue they can generate from the site they're hosting... the difference is just the source of revenue being from ads instead of being direct payment. Free web hosting is a good thing, but as with anything there are always a few companies in the field that can be a bit dishonest and make things rather unpleasant.
