I've been kicked off tripod and fortunecity, and I'm not sure where to host my site. I've got nothing illegal. No mp3's, no warez, and as far as I can see I'm not breaking any of the guidelines, but I was wondering where you'd recommend hosting a farly large site (about 50 mg). I have a lot of image files. None of them are exceptionally big, but there's a lot of them. Along with some zip files (again nothing illegal only winamp skins and such). I spent a lot of time uploading all the files only to have them deleted. I've contacted both providers but haven't recieved any response. I didn't know who else to ask, so please any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Well, some might consider that an "archive site". They don't want to allow those cause it sucks bandwidth. And tripod and fortnecity have enough problems with warez, that thye probably delete any archives on the spot. Try NBCi or Crosswinds. Or an Excelland reseller.

Having used both Xoom (NBCi) and Crosswinds at times in the past, I'd suggest staying very far away from both of them. They've certainly been known to delete sites without much reason, and they'd probably assume that any ZIP file must have illegal contents. Crosswinds is also slow, down a lot, and loves to break their promises. Xoom/NBCi enjoys spamming and doesn't seem very reliable.

Here's the list of places that have 50 MB or more: http://www.freewebspace.net/cgi-bin/db2/db.cgi?Language=English&Space=%3E50&Search=Search&sb=1&so=ascend&view_records=1

Unfortunately, most of them are no doubt just as bad as Tripod, FortuneCity, Crosswinds and NBCi. At 20 MB or 30 MB there are a few better choices, but at 50+ MB there doesn't seem to be much.

Maybe you should FXP files to an account at a FWP. Then if they delete your account FXP to a new account. Saves time + bandwidth and your site will be ready in about 5 mins :)

True, but not many FWP's support FXP.

Maybe FXP should be added to the power search

you know what? save yourself the trouble. name your files with the extension .cpp. they may wonder why there are 11 MB C++ files, but they wont delete them. that or GZip Tar them. they'll think you're a developer ;)
