I imagine you said "new", so you might want to check out QNX RTOS at http://www.qnx.com

I use Windows Millenium and it's been great so far. All the stability that NT has... Only thing, make sure you have enough RAM... My brand new computer only came with 32MB and that seemed to be barely enough to run it... I upgraded it to 96MB and now it rocks! :)

it's seems faster for me than in using win98. but maybe it's because I have such a kick --- computer..

I only had $50.00 to spend at the time, so a 64MB chip was the most I could get. I only have two slots, so if I upgrade again, I'll have to completely pull the 32MB chip.
It's not bad with 96... I usually have several programs open at one time to do web design, plus often have a CD playing, and it cruises right along. :)

I tried installing the Linux-Mandrake OS on an older system I have, and it wouldn't work. The HD wouldn't format right... Apparently there are some bad sectors on it and L-M wants it to be perfect for it to install right.
I haven't tried it on my new system becase there is no point. I have too many apps that are only in Windows, so I would have to have both so installing a second OS would really just be taking up more disk space.

I got me 96MB ram too :D
Someone I know was ranting and raving about Windows ME as it hasn't given him any problems or troubles or nothing. I'm still on '98 and hate when it freezes/BSOD :(
Oh. And I just read somewhere that the new Nuclear Powered Navy Carrier will be based on MS Win 2k software. SOMEONE HELP US!

I highly recommend Windows 2000 Professional. It runs most programs perfectly and it hardly ever gives you a crash or a BSOD. I expect that it would be even more stable if you download the ~60mb patch. (I didn't cause I only have a 56k modem :() Windows 2000 also gives you faster performance than Win9x/Me if you are on a semi-fast system.
