I just found out that DK3 now offers both phpBB1 and phpBB2 boards. I'm in the process of testing it out, but it looks pretty darn good. ;)

Maybe because your on the otherside of the world?
Probably because your routing just plain sucks.

They are very slow, just set one up yourself. Before I was useing both proboards and aimoo. Now I'm just using my own phpBB. Proboard and aimoo were good, but can't compare to phpBB hosted on my own server.

Yeah, of course hosting it on your own server is the best option! ;)
IMO, hosting a phpBB on a free host would be the worst option, far worse than remote hosts, though.

Yes, I can think of only 1 free host that supports phpBB2 without having to get approved by someone:
Lycos UK
And, really, it is slow...
Go with a BB remote host, I don't think there are many phpBB2 hosts out there, but you could get an IB PHP board...:D
But if you want more control, and skins and mods, go with your own webserver or web space. :)
Just in my opinion. :classic2:

Why does it seem like I can never get to connect onto the Lycos server?

Lycos.co.uk is too overloaded with users now. Few months ago, it used to be fast:(
