View Full Version : Tripod?

It seems as if though Tripod is going on a rampage of deleting sites.
Being a victim of one of them, I've gotten together with other members on there, and it seems like there's no real rhyme or reason to their actions. We can't figure out what any of us have in common that would make Tripod delete any of our sites.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Is it just a server problem, and I'll get all my files back? Or should I start a hike to another FWP?
Thanks for any info you can provide.

Maybe it could be that you haven't logged in to update your site within a 30 day period. They have that inactivity limit stated in their TOS.

Tripod hasn't been known to be the *brightest* web server. :D

I did a search (in Lycos!) for 'tripod down pages' and returned this :
http://news.lycos.com/headlines/Technology/article.asp?docid=APV8800&date=20010319
This is... apparently an excuse! 'Unknown number of sites were accidently deleted!' wow, thanks tripod! Before I do anything, have any of you fokes sent any emails regarding this subject? Did you get a reply that they'll put it back up?
Why did I have to search for this information and why was it not ON the tripod page? Really, making us feeling we did something wrong! I still like Tripod alot and I will continue to use them IF they put my page up, if they don't I'll have to settle for crosswinds or xoom >.< (I know of other webhosting places but I like those two because I doubt they'll shut down x.x)
sorry ^^;;;

Here is the message that I get when I try and login NOW
-------------------------
-News Flash-
Dear suiseiryu,
We apologize for the removal of your site over the weekend. Due to some technical errors, we mistakenly removed several member sites and are in the process of restoring them. We did not single out you or your site, please accept our apologies as we work to remedy the situation.
Sincerely,
The Tripod Team

Yeah, it seems as if my site is okay as well.
Nonetheless, I'm probably going to wind up moving anyhow.
Thanks for the information though. It was appreciated. ^_^

Thank God! Mine has been restored as well.
We should keep a couple of mirrors, just in case and submit to the search engines too!
Peace!

Better yet, get a free subdomain URL from http://www----------/ so you can switch your site between servers as many times as you want without it screwing up your URL.

Thank you.
I registered with --------. But I find a pop up of theirs in place of Tripod's pop up!
Is it something to do withe configuration of the account.
Another thing:
Your site is http://cyberryan----------/ according to your sig, but they have given me like http://www.myusername----------.
Could you kindly wise me up on these nuances!
Thank you

S. K,
I don't know how you're getting pop-ups from your -------- address. -------- places no advertisements at all on your redirection service. I know that there aren't any pop-up advertisements whenever someone accesses my -------- address; try it yourself.
By the way,
http://www.cyberryan----------/
is the same as
http://cyberryan----------/ ,
so you don't need the 'www' in front of your -------- URL, despite what -------- may tell you
