I'm in need of a host that offers JUST web space (file storage); I think 100 MB would be appropriate, but they would have to allow me to just store the files on their server. In other words, I will just be linking to those files from another web site. Does this type of service exist? What type of monthly rate am I looking at for this service? Remember - I don't need email accounts, SSL, or any fancy features. All I need is simple web space; files must be uploadable via FTP and should be able to be accessed via the web. Please let me know if you have any ideas...

Thanks!

Any hosting providers would allow you to put files in their server, as long as your files are not illegal and you pay the hosting fee. Be aware that you shouldn't excess your data transfer limit, otherwise, they have the right to charge you for the additional bandwidth.

Unfortunately, that´s not true :(

Most of the provs will NOT allow you to use your hosted space for storage plans.
I´m talking about videos, zips, mp3´s and so on.
I´ve searched around for quite a while and didn´t find too many hosts that don´t care what you´re hosting within their service. Of course it´s depending on your monthly traffic, if you´re just a developer who´s offering licensed tools or something like that you don´t have to fear that they wouldn´t accept it. In any way, if you´ve found a reasonable host you want to go with just email their support and describe your plans to em, in most cases there´s a realistic solution for both parties.

Actually, the most secure way is to apply for a dedicated server but everybody knows that this is quite unaffordable for a 'normal' human being :(

You might want to look at the listing here at freewebspace
http://www.freewebspace.net/guide/diskstorage.shtml

I dont know any of their policies, but it would probably be worthwhile for you to look at.
Good Luck.

Well, FSUSU, it depends on what kind files that you wish to store.

Normal files, I believe that most hosts allow that.

But for videos, audios, etc... There might be some problems.
