Hi
http://www.thebare-----project.co.uk/ will no longer have any Video clips
Thanks to Fortunecity arseholes it took me months to upload Mpegs on
there ---- server. Now the twats have baned Media Video clips with
out any notice thats the kind of ------s thay are.
Here follows a Email i got from fortunecity after i emailed them
<fortunecity email>
I've lost the battle.
There will no longer be avis or or other related media files allowed
on FortuneCity. What we have done is created a partnership with
FreeDrive, a file storage company, where you can have these files
live. The link to use is http://www.freedrive.com/GetMain.asp?
menuid=signuplong&Affiliate=230396
You get 50 Megs of free space to start.
Let me know if you have any questions and of course, comments.
<End of Fortunecity Email>
Fortunecity also erase sites with out any warning or a sorry even if
you havent broken there terms or condetions. Thay will piss on your
site from a grate hight.
Any one know of a good free sever?
Thanks
Richard

http://www.spaceports.com
unlimited space
20GB/month

I wouldn't really say spaceports has "unlimited" space (or any other host for that matter because an unlimited harddrive doesn't exist). You start off with 20 megs and you can upgrade it, but lately they've been hesitant to even cosider giving you an extra 20 megs because of abuse.

try excelland.com or some co-brander under it.
do they ever check navigate through your files? i highly doubt it

Those bastards! Deleting files that take their valuable bandwidth and cost them hundreds of thousands. Files that were on space that was given to you for free! Those *******s, how could they just do something like that to save them money when you're not giving them a damn thing?! What kind of people are they?! :rolleyes:
If you want to store your files, pay for space.

Anyway, sexyrich, you could try http://www.nbci.com/ since they have "unlimited" space (not the 100 mb that everyone who is against them THINKS they do), and they allow all types of media files (except .mp3's) up to 11 mb per individual file size.

Oh, boo-hoo-hoo, I'm crying my eyes out for Fortunecity. [/sarcasm] The point is, look at how rich Fortunecity is! They can afford to host sites like sexyrich's, as long as less than 5% of its site's are like hers.

Sexyrich:
Banner impressions don't mean ----. They probablly get paid by clicks anyway and you can't convince me that your visitors clicked those ads because hardly anyone does. I doubt an impression ad company would take a FWP because they get so many hits. Besides, banners are a low profit advertisment now'days because popups are where it's at.
Cracker:
Who cares how rich they are? If you had a million dollars and 5% of the people you knew stole from you would it be alright? I think not. I was just pointing out you get what you pay for, and sexyrich shouldn't expect the best service from a free provider, and be comepletely greedy like you Gary Nimrod! Oh, I'm sorry. I meant Cracker, no, I really did. [/sarcasm]

The thing is i know my site cost loads to run as i said i showed 40000 of there banner adds aday & i was promoting there site for them. Thay there selfs like my site & had no problem with it. It was the boss peoples idea to block media files from fortunecity. The staff where dead against it. It was the big boss as far as i know that messed things up with out giving any noticed. Alright i was getting the space for free but like a said i was promoting them not just show there banners but giving then extra links. Just like to say the Staff there liked my site.

It's not stealing as long as you're playing their game by displaying their banner ads on your HTML pages. Geez. The only reason that uploading MPEG's (or whatever) to a free server is considered "stealing" by Fortunecity is because Fortunecity says it is. You are so gullible, Nick, and you're probably one of THEM!

if it states in there terms of service its not allowed then it would be classed as stealing bandwidth.... that hard to understand?

No is not & thay liked my page & new how much bandwidth i was useing. I would have like some notice instead of just blocking the media files with out notice.

That's what I said earlier; the only reason that uploading MPEG's to FortuneCity is stealing is because they say so. In other words, FortuneCity is just a rich chicken now! Implementing a 5 mb file size limit - that's not chicken; disallowing specific file types that fall into a general category all together (such as movie files) - that is chicken. And I thought FortuneCity was a good host, too (although I've never used them)! Oh well, another good one bites the dust.

if they state its wrong its wrong you ding bat. How many times do you need to be told? they say what goes on there servers not you. start paying for a service and you can have more say to what goes in your webspace. Free they make the rules and you have to live with them.

I agree they should of given notice and they may have done in one of there newsletters but i never read my fortunecity email's i just delete them.
But it is entirely upto them what they see as legal and illegal doings on there servers.

If I was as rich as FortuneCity, I could afford to set up my own FWP and actually NOT put such a stupid rule in my TOS.

Have you any IDEA what it costs to host mpegs and stuff? There is no way that banners would ever pay for that even if ur doing thousands of banners a day, seems to me like you just want all the stuff you would get from paid hosting but you want it all for free, perhaps you should stick to pr0ncity or something and see how slow and crap they are.

From the FortuneCity Terms Of Service:
...You agree that FortuneCity has the right to remove any page it determines, in its sole discretion...
In other words, they can delete something if they feel like it and you can't do anything about it. If they wanted to delete all movies they can. They need not give prior notice because they can do what they want.
Don't get me wrong, I think they should have given notice, but no one but the FC staff controls that.
You can only blame yourself cause you agreed when you signed up.

so in other words freespace severs can change the rules when ever thay like. **** the members **** the members. Cash Cash Cash. I total unstand thay what to make money thay dont do it for the fun of it. Thay got to earn a living but theres also the thing of being nice to your members & giving some notice of what thay plan on doing. Of course this is not the case so signing up with a free sever means you cant ever trust them & thay dont give a ---- about you. Of couse if people stop signing up on them thay would make no money so thay better get there acts together.
When you say your gona do some thing you stick to your words or if you cant your warn about this. The same goes for free severs. I recomed that its worth paying for you space just to see the cash bandits of free servers go broke.
