I recently sold my CD-RW to someone and they say it wont load. I checked it out and the main cd for the thing doesnt work. So I need to know how I can get drivers so the computer recognizes it and software so they can use it. I can't find the exact model but heres my best:

Iomega CD-RW (positive about this)

Quite possibly one of these:

Iomega CD-RW 16x10x40 USB 2.0

Iomega CD-RW 24x10x40 USB 2.0

Iomega CD-RW 40x12x48 FireWire (best guess)

Iomega CD-RW 40x12x48 USB 2.0

I surfed around the iomega site for help and found nothing. So I guess any old burning software will work but how can I get drivers?

And I know the burner works and is compatible with the computer. The disc just doesnt work.

PLEASE IM DESPERATE!!!

First of all, is it installed properly and is there enough power for it?

Is it pluged into the right IDE slot of the motherboard?

An IDE slot for a USB or Firewire drive???

First of all, you really have to determine whether it's a USB or a firewire drive... The USB drivers for it are pretty generic and most of the iomega USB drivers should work with any of the USB drives.
But the firewire divers will only work with the firewire drives.
Once you manage to determine what you have, select it at http://www.iomega.com/support/def_cdrw.html
And install the drivers BEFORE you connect the drive to the USB port.
Incidently... If your friend doesn't have a firewire port on his system... The drive won't work at all.

(Edit) Look at http://www.iomega.com/support/documents/11381.html for help in identifying the drive (/edit)

Errrr....whooops...I tought it was IDE.

If it's a USB, the other person will have to have USB 2.0 otherwise it wont work. If it's firewire, the person will need a firewire card. I think the former is most likely the case as theres no difference in looks between USB 1.1 and USB 2.0.
