what is the code to put in teh htaccess file to make it so no one can view a dir? but people could still access a file in the dir, like a cgi-bin

on my server when i make an FTP acct it makes a cgi-bin but people can view it ;[

Not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for... but it should work.

DirectoryIndex index.html

then they will get a 404 error if they try and access the dir without a file specified.
