What firewall would you recommend? Preferably freeware.
Thank you so much :)

It doesn't forget it's settings the way ZoneAlarm does

ZoneAlarm
I haven't had any problems with it remembering settings...

You must be running a DOS based OS(win9x and ME) with "auto-corrupt registry" enable.

Agnitum Outpost Firewall (http://www.agnitum.com/download/outpostfree.html).
It doesn't bother you with little message windows containing info on someone who pinged you or your network (I know about ping sweeps and the Ping of Death so don't anyone lecture me).
It's got a nice, clean interface, and an ad blocker (though you might want to disable it, it blocks some images which aren't ads).

I've used Sygate and liked it, but am using Norton Internet Security now (VirusScan + Firewall bundle), so I don't anymore. Sygate was great for a free firewall. Zonealarm, I don't know, I just don't like very much. And Tiny, I have tried it, but it kept giving me fatal errors and such, and never tried it again (that was back on 98).
