first off, you're talking about free hosting and you're bringing up cost?

okay, you need freehosting. do you need any advanced features? i don't know what you're looking for in a free host, you have to give specifics (i.e. Full Access CGI-BIN/PHP3-4/Virtual PHP3/MySQL/MS-SQL/ASP/JSP/etc.)

A great free host that offers domain hosting is http://www.gcsnet.net
You can get almost anything there (ssi, cgi, php...)
Another good one is http://www.freewebsites.com But they only offer ssi and pre installed cgi scripts.
http://www.f2s.com also hosts domains (I think), but I never tried them out...
