The OEM version of SB Livecosts $106 CAD and the Muse XL cost $56 CAD.
Being on a budget I am, I bought the Muse XL. It's works like a dream. :)

SB Live!
After using the SB Live 5.1 and SB Live Value! series I would never buy anything else.
If Creative makes it, it's bound to be worth the $$. ;)

I just realized that 2 of my older sound cards(3-4 years old) are fried. And both were Creative. :confused2

I've always had problems with Creative Labs; SB 16 PCI doesn't work in XP, only in Linux.

I'm talking about the older cards. I'm not talking about the brand new ones that costs 100s of dollars.

Creative products just aren't worth the money for what you get. Soundcards from Hercules, Philips, and Turtle Beach are less expensive than comparable Creative cards, have better drivers and support, and have equal or better sound quality.
I really don't see what's so special about Creative. They make decent products with decent sound quality, and buggy drivers. Nothing too special about that, in my opinion.

Also Hercules headquarters are in Montreal. :D
If I happen to have a problem, I'll just pay them a visit. :)

Listening to music on any Creative card sucks. They have the worse upsampling of any card on the market. So much for trying to listen to CD-Quality, 16-bit music.
And the Audigy isn't even a true 24 bit sound card.

Similar to the fact that software modems / winmodems aren't true modems?

My only problem with the Muse XL is that there's no base/treble equalizer.

Personally, I listen to music without any equalizer... I listen to the song the way it's meant to be listened to.
However, that's just me. I'm sure gamers like to mess with bass and hear the rumble of their machine guns on the subwoofer.

I use headphones. Easier to spot(hear) enemies. :chinese2:
