I took my CD-RW out of my old computer and opened my new computer to put it in. Check. Now, but I can't see the new drive, and my old CD-ROM isn't working.

I open My Computer I see one CD-ROM drive, but if I put a game or something in my normal CD-ROM drive, it doesn't do anything.

Can anyone help me!

Thank you so much!

:cry2:

Did you plug the power and ide cables in all the way? You might also have to change the jumpers on the back from master to slave or vice versa.

This is my first time doing this, could you please elaborate?

Thank you :)

Well, I hope you can figure out if you have the cables plugge din all the way... if not, then you may want to find someone around you with a little more computer knowledge.

As far as jumpers go, if you have 2 IDE devices (such as a CDROM and CDRW) on the same IDE cable (usually a flat grayish ribbon) then you'll need to set the first dvice to master and the second to slave.

You can see a diagram of the jumpers here: http://www.kenwoodtech.com/graphics/jumpers.gif

It should be similar to your drives, but there should be a diagram provided on the back of the drive with the jumpers anyway.

Oh Bruce! I love you! I could kiss you right now! Woo, its working :D

(Some of the above comments were said in excitement and may not be true ;))

Anyway, you were right. My CD-RW was on Master... It works now but what does "CSEL" do? My other drive was on that, just wondering what it is.

"CSEL" is short for cable select. IF the jumpers are on cable select then the computer will determine if it's best to set it to master or slave. Sometimes this works as expected, and sometimes it doesn't. That's teh reason it's best to set it to either master or slave whenever possible.

Anywho... glad you got everything working.
