Isn't a "blogger" nothing more than a news update script. From what I have seen that's pretty much all they are....

But that shouldn't be too much to ask. At least it's not a huge banner on the top of your page. You can also use a text link back.
But I agree with Lisa Dragon, if you can, use greymatter. Easy to install and I love it..

Tell the world your story, as often as you'd like, via a web interface, far as I can tell.

yes aparently so...now I was going around blogger.com trying to find out what a blogger really is, I found out but on the way I found this quote:
My scripting nipples get hard just thinking about blogger!
Now this is just not right! makes you start to think doesn't it? :confused2

From what I've seen, a blogger basically lets others post little pieces of whatever to a webpage and have it displayed with others. A text link is VERY little to ask considering the immense bandwidth required for a few hundred (a small handful) of these bloggers. =)
"My scripting nipples get hard just thinking about blogger!" -- My scripting nipples get hard thinking about scripting! Doesn't make it any more right, but it's justified in my warped mind. ;)

Oh my GOD, what an ENORMOUS advertisement, that would surely ruin ANY layout you could possibly make. A small button linkback hardly classifies as an ad.

You quoted Blogger as being an ad-free block, when technically it isn't, and I was merely letting kid_twist know that you had to place a link back in case he/she didn't know, so just settle down. :angry2:

A link back isn't an advertisement, is all I'm saying. Sorry if I came off sounding rude, I didn't actually mean to. Forgiven? :o

I use Freelog (http://www.neologic.net/freelog). It's a very basic one, which is fully customizable to your site. It's quite good, and you just put a sliver of script on your page.

If you want a blog, just have a HTML page and update it when you need via frontpage. :D

most of the existing blog services have ads, and if not they are slow, and/or featureless. you'd be best off getting a free host with no ads and cgi and using greymatter.

Just create a section of your site with frames, on a no ads host. :)

Isn't the point of blog that you don't need to ftp or upload?
You just login to your site and can update it from anywhere. A friend is using it to update us on her trip around the world.

I still think freelog is better. Blogger has ads if you get it hosted on BlogSpot, and you need an FTP host to ftp it to your server.

I have tried to use Hostedstuff News (http://www.hostedstuff.com) as my blog to submit news into my site. But now I change my blog into Freelog (http://neologic.net/freelog/) because their server is more fast than hostedstuff :D
