Are you talking about SSH client for shell access? I used SSH Windows Client, which is quite adequate.

Does it use a chunk of computer resources? I haven't ever heard of 'til now, is it like a skinning type thing?

I personally dislike software such as Talisman as I find them to be an annoyance and a waste of resources.
I also found that Talisman ran sloppily under windows 98.

I don't use Litestep right now. Although I did try it. And yes I tried Hoverdesk.
Hoverdesk seems to be almost the exact same thing as StyleXP, Windows Blinds, etc. where as Litestep makes Windows look totally different.

Making windows look completely different would be the annoying part

Because most games don't run under Linux.
And mind you, I do dual-boot with Slackware.

Sorry if I sound rude I just have this bitter feeling towards people who are against or disagree with microsoft. Microsoft made computers what they are and if you really knew about bill gates and whathe did you would have to agree the gui is a business genious. He earned his money with his brain.

I use Linux on all of my other computers with the exception of 2, my gaming rig, and my girlfriend's.
It's because of Windows superior gaming capabilities, which is why I use it. For everything else, I usually use Linux.

billy boy outright STOLE  the whole concept of the mouse AND windows "look" from a Mac protoype...the Mac was the new signature machine that Apple were bringing out [way back then]!! billy stole the entire idea...like all good businessmen, he is a liar and a cheat....there is a very good reason anti-trust litigation is being implemented...but that's a different story ain't it...i'll just shut up now and give myself one of these :topic: before someone else does

Macintosh got it from Xerox :D And I'm pretty sure they took some code. Ditto for Microsoft and Macintosh

lol, microsoft didn't make computers what they are today, most of the stuff they make they have stolen
guitarnerd

no no no microsoft stole nothing. You guys are idiots and making false acusations. Nothing was taken or stolen.
This IS HOW IT REALLY HAPPENED:
Bill Gates was a programmer in College
He got an oppuritunity to sell an operating system to IBM
He didn't have time to make it so he bought the framework from a company called Seattle computers.
Him and his colleges (about 10 guys) programmed it, before it was even finished IBM bought it but bill gates made a deal to sell it to them but they had to say Bill gates can sell Microsoft to more than just IBM. They agreed. So IBM gave him a deadline and it was BARELY met. I think IBM gave him 10 million dollars for it. So where dude you get the lie he stole it. BTW Bill Gates bought the framework for $12,000 or something along those lines
He also got to keep the rights to the programming language that was at the time known as BASIC

Well, that is at least true. Micro$hit made computers they way the are today. Controlled by a huge monopoly trying to kill open source and take over the world. Eventually linux will be as/more popular than windows and the world will be free once again. :) So stop telling how **great** ms is because it isnt. keep it to ur self or go whine ur billy :devious2:

No no no, YOU have it all wrong. Xerox decided to revolutionize computers by making this thing called a gui (gooey). Steve Jobs, co-founder of apple computer, decided to waltz right in, lookin like a businessman wanting to invest in it. He took some of the code and made the Macintosh. Microsoft heard about this "Macintosh" and went over to see it. Jobs willingly showed them and boasted about it, and Bill Gates took some of the code behind Jobs' back. He developed "Windows."
Yeah sure he bought DOS from this guy in Nowhere, Kansas (i dont know where exactly) for $50 grand and sold it to IBM.
Now here;) *hands guitarnerd a statue with the windows logo on it*
Dude just drop it ok :)

Guitarnerd, it seems that your not willing to accept other peoples oppinions and in turn, You are becoming the new Giancarlo.
I respect your oppinion about Microsoft being almighty or whatever, but accept the facts that *nix does beats Windows in different aspects. Both systems have their ups and downs.
guitarnerd
November 28th, 2002, 22:08
I respect that and agree with that daniel...
but I do know exactly what happened. I studied it and as a matter of fact watched a 3 hour movie twice on how bill gates got microsoft...etc. It was bought from Seattle computers and there is no arguing that fact. Read about it for yourself...my teacher taught that to me, my friend who works for microsoft explained it that way, as well as a tv show on the history channel.
Daniel
November 28th, 2002, 22:16
Well why do you think there's all the anti-trust lawsuits against Microsoft then?
But the truth is, without Xerox(which Microsoft now owns), Apple, and whatever other company, Microsoft wouldn't exist. Then again, without Minix, Linux wouldn't have existed and without Linux, BSD wouldn't have either.
So in all, it's all one big jumble of mass plagiarism.

well then, if you saw it on a movie and on tv then you really really must know exactly what happened :p

It was on the history channel and was shown in a class...I think that should qualify it to be considered trustworthy. The whole deal had almost nothing to do with Xerox and it would exist without Xerox or Apple. That is fact
Daniel

Well for a fact, I do know Microsoft stole the 'mouse' idea from Mac and added an extra button. Then, the first Windows looked very identical to the current Mac at the time.

And you know what...obviously you have the views of an immature business person. You know nothing about how the computer economy works so you can go off saying your precious *nix is better. While I will get a real career and make more money using windows.

I don't really care...
I'd just like to the face of your client(s) when you tell them that you couldn't finish the work because your machine crashed.
The moral of that is: Linux is better for mission-critical stuff.
