Its just that because I (and I guess many others) don't actually know what to do once we buy a domian name, maybe like a step by step instruction will be good

1) Before getting domain, it is helpful to know where the domain will be hosted and the nameservers of the host. If you are using redirection services, then the same applies, you need the nameservers of the redirection service.

This is in the form of ns1.something.com ns2.something.com

2) Register the domain, and use this information, along with whatever else it asks you to fill in.

3) Depending on how you do it, you should be good to go. If you signed up for hosting, then your host will set it all up, and once the domain propagates, you will see it when you type in yournewdomain.com into a browser. This can take 24-48+ hours, so be patient.

If you have a specific question, feel free to post it, but there are quite a few variables, and it isn't easy to tell you what to do exactly for each one.

How about doing things together? For instance, I'm now registering a domain name with RIPN (.com.ru, .net.ru, etc..), as well as with the .AR NIC. Someone might want to start with me.

Or we could do a fresh start with wzr.net? How about that? Anybody interested?

Who is Admin-C, if you register with wzr? wzr?

I never registered a ru-domain, but I won't start with an ar-domain. I have never seen a more complicated registration. Try an *.*.kg with mydomain.

I thought he is just starting, maybe he'll provide a window. I don't know.

I've tried the kg domains. I've learned a few things by doing a ru-domain, perhaps also on an ar-domain.

However, if you say so.

Any other idea?

Alex

What did you learn with ru-domains?

For mydomain.com you'd use:

ns1.mydomain.com 208.184.130.51
ns2.mydomain.com 208.184.130.52
ns3.mydomain.com 208.184.130.53
ns4.mydomain.com 208.184.130.55

Note, some registrars don't have a place to put all four. Put as many as you can. As far as free domain registrations go, I dunno. More or less it should be similar, but I'm only familiar with com/net/org domain extension registrations.

Is there a way to have mydomain not act like a redirection service? Like for example I go into my site with the domain, the address in the Address bar shows up as: http://www.blahblah.com/. When I click on a link that leads to another page on my site, the address is still the same - doesn't really act like a domain since it is just cloaking the URL.

Or is mydomain only a redirection service?

It may be easy and simple for the veterans. But I learn how to assign a NIC Handle for me and the organization I belong to.

Try ACK1-RIPN and MDC1-ORG-RIPN on a RIPN whois.

That's basically what it is.

mydns.com (part of mydomain.com) however is a different service, allowing DNS zone file config. Maybe this is what you want?
