Hello, I have just recently begun using Bravenet.com's remotely hosted forum service, and am quite enjoying it.
Anyways, I was wondering what your esperiences have been with this host.
Would you all recommend this service, or are there too many problems with the service?
The reason I ask is so I know wether to continue using it and build up a bigger community, or quit now if I am going to be encountering problems.
Any input would be great, thanks.

Well, I have tried this service for about 2 seconds. Their forums are OK, I guess but I just don't like the look and feel so I stoped it. Do what you want...sorry not really a help. :o

I don't like it as it takes quite a while for the forums to update with your new post.
It's alright for something not so active

I like linear board, therefore I do not like bravenet forums. I prefer free forums like the ones at http://www.proboards.com .

Bravenet services is very good and reliable, I have been using them for almost 2 years now. Though I only used some of their services like counter/stats, polls, guestbook but not the forums because I also prefer linear type forums.

If you get less than 20 posts a day, I'm sure you'll find Bravenet a good choice. If you are planning on getting more posts than that, then I would switch to linear.

Threaded forums are very hard to navigate and very troublesome, have to keep clicking to see each new post, too troublesome for those long threads

Threaded forums are excellent for less popular boards though. ;)

I used it for a year when I had my MSN Community. I then learned they "track everything you do" on there. But that was long after I quit using bravenet.

:) Hmm thanks for the help but.
Guest forum isn't sutomizable, you must choose from their horrid colour schemes.
Ravelly signups aren't online.
And dreamtools appears to no longer exist.
Though I will give eboards a try, thanks.

Dreamtools is probably the best out of the free boards, but I think I've got the wrong URL. Let me find it...
It's www.dream-tools.com ...they're coded in Miva, lol. :D
