I am running a photo gallery website on which visitors can publish their art and take part in photo contest, ….

I need to know what kind of adds and what advertisers/sponsors you suggest to make some income from the site and I shouldn’t loose visitors for that.

I am talking about website in my signature.

Hi,

from experience I can tell you that - if you website gets popular - your data transfer costs will also increase. Your website is pictures mainly and they cost a fortune on data transfer. I had the same problem.
My solution was advertisments that could guarantee me (1) a stabile income source and (2) enough money to make the website self-sufficient. The only solution I could find were pop-ups. The online shop did generate money but it only made me $25 in the last 1.5 years (not enough to pay my $15 hosting a month). Agreed ... my visitors are quite young and unlikely to buy anything. Banners do not make any money anymore these days, at least not enough to pay hosting costs of it. It will take you a while to find the pop-up service that fits you best, personally I experimented with PopUpTraffic.com, PayPopUp.com, Peel.com and some others. They all had ads not targeted on a younger population. Nowadays I use the UGO.com pop-ups and that generates app. $70-80 a month with app. 1000-1200 visitors a day. If you have a general audience, PopUpTraffic.com is likely to be the best service in this area.

Goodluck with your site!
